Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my visit?

As a guest to our Philadelphia spa, you will be greeted by one of our spa coordinators at our reception desk and escorted to a relaxing lounge, where a seasonal refreshment will be offered.

Upon arrival we ask first-time guests to complete a brief health checklist. The information provided is confidential and will enable our therapists to personalize service(s) to your individual health/skin care needs.

Spa Terme Di Aroma is an aromatherapy day spa and some aspect of aromatherapy is included in most of our spa treatments. Our custom aromatherapy blends are intended to have continued therapeutic effects long after leaving the spa, and, as such, shower and sauna facilities are not offered. Guests are welcome to relax in either of our two spacious and comfortable lounges and are invited to enjoy refreshments and light snacks at our juice bar.

Lockers and dressing rooms are available, as the spa consists of a first floor and lower level. Guests for spa packages are offered a locker with a robe and slippers, as treatments are often in different areas of the spa. While guests for single services dress and undress in the treatment room, robes and slippers are available to all guests upon request.

We also have a spa boutique by the reception desk which offers a unique selection of personal care products, skincare, books, music, greeting cards, and gift items with complimentary gift wrapping.

Where do you suggest for parking?

Several discounted lots are available within a block or two of the spa in addition to other parking options. In order to receive any discounted rates, it is necessary to inform the parking attendant upon your arrival that you are visiting Spa Terme Di Aroma as well as your spa coordinator upon check-in. It may not be advisable to park at a meter if you are scheduled for a spa package or plan to be at the spa for any length of time. This will prevent any inconvenience or disruption to your spa services to tend to your meter. Spa staff is not able to monitor meters for guests. Should I tell anyone about a physical or medical concern?

When making your appointment, we encourage you to discuss any health conditions that may affect your spa experience. To ensure the best possible experience and to maximize your safety and comfort, you will be asked to complete or update a brief health form. This will allow your therapist to be informed about your health and history. Some services may not be recommended for guests who are pregnant.

It is important to inform us of any health conditions or allergies you may have, or of any health care treatment you may be receiving; some services may be contra-indicated for your specific health needs.

What should I expect during my massage? Will I be covered?

Our massage therapists have been trained to respect the privacy of our guests. You will be modestly draped with towels and sheets throughout your massage, and the areas of the body not involved will remain covered.

May I request a male or female therapist?

The comfort of our guests is of primary importance to us. When scheduling your appointment, please inform our spa coordinator if you prefer a male or female therapist for your treatment.

Can I ask my therapist to make adjustments for my comfort?

We encourage you to communicate with your therapist and the staff regarding technique, pressure, room temperature, and any other matter in order to provide you with the best possible experience during your spa visit.

Can the spa accommodate group bookings?

Yes! We do offer bookings for groups. Just provide us with the details, and our spa manager can help you create a custom spa package to make your occasion or event that much more special.

Spa Policies
Appointments & Scheduling

All services are by appointment only. Please call in advance to schedule an appointment. We recommend that guests check in at our reception desk at least 20 minutes before scheduled service(s). As we are located in the historic area, we kindly ask that guests allow ample time for travel and parking.

Late Arrivals

With any late arrivals, spa service(s) will finish at the scheduled time, while the normal service fee remains unchanged. For some treatments, late arrivals may not be able to be accommodated.

Cancellations & No-shows

While we make every effort to accommodate our guests, we do require a minimum of 24 hours in advance if canceling or rescheduling a single-service appointment, and 48 hours before weekend, multiple, and package services. A 20% charge for the service will be applied from a credit card or gift card for a cancellation with less than the required notice time as well as for any no-show appointments.

Cell Phones

To ensure an atmosphere of relaxation and as a courtesy to our other guests, we ask that cell phones, laptops, and any other electronic devices be turned off while in the spa.

Jewelry & Valuables

Many of our spa treatments involve some type of work on the neck and hands with creams or aromatherapy blends. It is advisable not to wear jewelry and to keep any other valuables at home. Each of our treatment rooms has a small bowl where valuables can be placed while receiving a service. Spa Terme Di Aroma cannot be responsible for any lost items.

Young Adult Guests

Spa massage and body treatments are available for guests 18 years and older. The spa does not offer skincare treatments for young adults.


We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express for services only (gratuities excluded). Personal checks are not accepted; however, an ATM is conveniently located next door to the spa. We request that all gratuities be paid in cash.

Tipping & Gratuities

Extending a gratuity as a result of a spa experience, though customary at spas, is at the discretion of our guests and appreciated by therapists. Gratuities are not included in any of our treatment prices or gift cards. Tipping is usually 15-20% of the regular price of the spa treatment. For the convenience of our guests, gratuity envelopes are provided at the reception desk upon checking out. Tips may not be charged on a credit card. We ask that tips be made in cash; an ATM is located next door to the spa.

Gift Certificates

Gift cards and gift certificates do not expire and are fully transferrable. Prices are subject to change at any time. Gift cards and gift certificates are not redeemable for cash, cannot be used to purchase another gift card or certificate, cannot be used for gratuities, and must be presented at the time of the scheduled service(s) in order to be redeemed. Gift cards may be used to purchase merchandise.

Gift certificates are considered to be the same as cash, and it is necessary to have all records pertaining to it. Lost or stolen gift cards or gift certificates can be replaced only with proof of purchase and identification and then may be redeemed if not used (with or without permission) previously.

Purchase of gift cards or gift certificates implies acceptance of all terms and conditions.
