Tips for Healthy Summer Skin Care
published on May 25, 2016

Summer is a beautiful and exciting time of year. As the warm weather nears, we begin to daydream and look forward to the warm, bright, comforting days ahead.

As the long-awaited feelings of basking in the sunlight become a reality, it’s ever more important to stay committed to your skincare routine.

While relaxing and enjoying the beautiful warm weather, keep in mind these healthy summer skin care tips to make the most of your summer glow.

Moisturize daily using a light moisturizing cream day and night after your cleansing routine and before your makeup application. Skin that is well moisturized prevents peeling and keeps glowing and looking healthy. Consider replacing your foundation with a toxic-free tinted moisturizer with SPF that will allow your skin and pores to breathe anew this summer.

Nourish your skin with vitamins and nutrients from food and natural skin care products. The antioxidants, fatty acids, and moisturizing properties of vitamin E, vitamin C, maracuja, and coconut oil especially help to replenish, brighten, and nourish your skin.

Hydration can make a tremendous impact on your skin’s appearance. Drink water, fruit-infused water, and coconut water to fight skin dehydration and replenish the body inside and out.

Exfoliation works wonders for dull-looking skin. Exfoliating once a week cleans pores and eliminates dead skin cell buildup, renewing skin to keep it looking new and bright. Limit sunlight exposure immediately after exfoliation to prevent sunburn.

Rejuvenate skin once every week using masks after exfoliation to rehydrate and repair sun damage. Make the most of this process by giving yourself pampering time to unwind and refresh.

Protect your skin from free radicals, oxidants, and bug bites by drinking plenty of water, eating healthy, applying sunscreen daily, and using bug spray when you plan outdoor events. Remember to use chemical-free products that will keep your hair and lips moisturized and protected as well!

Finally, rest and relax. Exhaustion and experiencing tension and stress throughout the day can become visible in your outward appearance. Fine lines and wrinkles can appear when you stay stressed or miss out on the quality sleep that your body truly needs. As an extra treat, schedule a visit with us for a relaxing day to rejuvenate and give yourself an extra boost towards healthy glowing summer skin and deep relaxation.

In our journeys this summer, notice the scent of the roses. Bask in the sunshine. And be sure to take a deep breath and refocus on the basics of balancing the mind, body, and soothing the soul.
