Relieving Stress this Holiday Season
published on December 1, 2021

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” ~Etty Hillesum

This time of year is filled with memories, joy, laughter, and love. For some of us, though, it can simultaneously be filled with to-do lists, stress, and worry. There can be new emotions or experiences that we may have to face or even resurfacing emotions from weeks, days, or years past. Regardless of the cause, these all move our attention away from the present moment of being fully alive in the season, with our families and friends, and with ourselves.

As we journey through the holiday season and into the new year, here are a few ways to that can aim to help with relieving stress and support relaxation.

Practice self-care. Give yourself the gift of relaxation. Take a warm bath. Cozy up with a cup of tea and a favorite book. Treat yourself to an aromatherapy massage. Making space and time for yourself to relax and unwind can be a wonderful stress-relieving gift.

Sleep. It’s no secret that getting a good night’s sleep is essential to your heath – body, mind, and spirit. It’s important to try as best as possible to find a healthy sleeping routine – getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Sleep is restorative for your body – allowing it to rest and recharge.

Exercise. When consumed by worry, it’s not always easy to make the time and space for exercise; it can feel like a monumental task. But moving your body is essential to mind health. Exercise helps to increase endorphins in the brain which in turn has a positive effect on your mental state. Whether participating in a yoga class, going for a brisk jog, dancing to a favorite song in the middle of the day, or taking a five minute walk in fresh air, your body and mind will be thankful.

Breathe. Through conscious effort, our breath is always accessible. It can be found even in moments when stress and anxiety are increasing or peaking. With one deep breath, we can come back to the present…even if it’s just for a split second in time. Sometimes that is all it takes. Sometimes that is just enough.

And remember, we at Spa Terme Di Aroma are always here to support you in your quest for health and relaxation. Visit us for a massage or simply stop in and unwind with a cup of our homemade cider. Share the joy of relaxation with a loved one by gifting them with a spa gift card for one of our services or the Terme Di Aroma spa boutique!

As we all journey through the holiday season let’s hope that all of us can find happiness and comfort…so we can be more present to the memories, joy, laughter, and love that surround us all.
