Spring Cleaning: Mind/Body/Soul

The long awaited change of winter to spring is again among us. We can rejoice in longer days. The seeds of autumn have begun to bud giving us an overall sense of renewal  and new life. A great time to mimic nature and do a proper spring cleaning.

Renewing different area of your daily life can begin in small but meaningful ways. Go through your piles of papers, your clothes, and the corners of rooms in areas that haven’t seen light for years. Don’t be afraid to let go and let things flow. Give things away, have a garage sale, and recycle or re-circulate what you can. “Being simple, simply being.”

Spring Clean from the inside out. Spring is the ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation for overall health and well-being. Go outside: Take a walk or run outside in the fresh air or just play with your kids in the grass.  Working up a sweat helps you dump toxins, helps release stress and improve your health. Plus you’ll get some much-needed, mood-boosting Vitamin D.

Release negativity: It’s often said that happiness is an “inside job.” Most people have to make the effort and choose to be happy. It’s helpful to remember that you have the power to control your thoughts, not the other way around. When we are aiming to Spring Clean our spirit it’s helpful to focus our energy on renewing a positive attitude and adjusting our overall mindset. Time, stress, and obligations can cause clutter in our minds, over time this clutter creates negative thoughts and disorients our view of the world. If we truly want to achieve a happier life we may want to take stock of the many blessings in our life that can help us clear out this negative clutter.

We’re wired to feel joy and hope when we can see life bursting forth everywhere we look. The Earth is literally clueing us into the spirit of rejuvenation that people of all walks of life should embrace.
